  3. WebMap reads GIF and PICT files, and allows you to draw out the various
  4. graphic primitives (rectangle, circle, oval, polygon and point) that represent the hot
  5. areas on an html image map.  WebMap supports both the CERN and NCSA imagemap
  6. formats, and allows you to create your own formats.
  7.  
  8. To use WebMap, open an image file, and draw the graphic primitives over the areas
  9. of the image that should be clickable in an html browser (Netscape, Mosaic, etc.), set
  10. the URL for each object, and export the marker definitions into a .map file.

  12. Missing Features:
  13.  
  14.     • Can’t read JPEG files.
  15.         
  16.     • Import from Text… is disabled.
  17.     
  18.     • Help is far from complete.
  19.     
  20.     
  21. Known bugs:
  22.           
  23.     • The 1-pixel border around the URL list in the URL Editor dialog fails
  24.       to draw sometimes.
  25.       
  26.     • The Marker report (Print... from the File menu) is not particularly
  27.       attractive at this point.

  30. Using WebMap:
  31.  
  32. Using WebMap is fairly straightforward.  It allows you to draw rectangles,
  33. circles, ovals, polygons and points, move them (1 or more at a time),
  34. and resize them.
  35.  
  36. Click on an object to edit it’s Comments and URL in the fields at the top
  37. of the window.
  38.  
  39. Undo is supported for creating, deleting, moving and resizing objects
  40. when you use the mouse (not the keyboard).
